Frances M. Bingley
NORFOLK—Frances Maria Bingley, 85, died June 25, 2010 at Albermarle Hospital, Elizabeth City, N.C. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home. Burial will be in Southampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Bingley was a former resident of Franklin. Bingley was the founder of the Virginia Shaggers Hall of Fame, founder and president of the Tidewater Shag Club and aided in the formation of shag clubs all over Virginia. She was the retired chairperson of the National Living Legends of Dance. Survivors include her daughter, Sandy Edwards (Bob) of Franklin; two sons, John E. Anderson and Walter T. “ Boo Boo ” Anderson, both of Elizabeth City, N.C.
