Nancy P. Cornwell
SEDLEY—Nancy Paige Dunn Cornwell left this Earth on June 7, 2010, to be with her Mom, Dad, son and other loved ones in the heavenly home prepared for her by Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who suffered and died so her sins would be forgiven.
Nancy was born on May 19, 1950, to Catherine Belle Edwards Dunn and Robert James Dunn Jr.
She attended Drewryville Elementary School, Southampton High School, and in 1972, graduated from Longwood College with a bachelor’s degree in kindergarten through 12th grade art education.
Nancy taught at Sussex Central High School, Southampton Academy, Central State Hospital Adolescent Program and Merrimac Juvenile Detention School. She was always privileged to work with an exceptional staff, which made it a pleasure instead of a job.
Nancy retired due to illness in 2007.
She will be missed by Ron Cornwell; their children, Ashley Paige Cornwell and Christopher Darden Cornwell and his wife, Melissa Wheeler Cornwell; and grandchildren, Christopher Jr. and Matthew Tristan, who are two of the most awesome children in the world.
Nancy is predeceased by her first-born, Matthew Jason.
She was a member of Millfield Baptist Church and also attended Sedley Baptist Church.
Nancy was fortunate to be surrounded by friends and relatives who visited, transported, comforted, encouraged, and sustained her on both good days and bad.
Her family will be at Millfield Baptist Church from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and other times at the residence of Chris and Melissa Cornwell at 16104 Mission Church Road in Ivor.
The funeral will be held at Millfield Baptist Church at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 11, with the Revs. Jay Butcher and Lewis Harris. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Millfield Baptist Church, 31389 Millfield Road, Wakefield, VA, 23888, or Dr. Ralph H. Hrubam with Johns Hopkins Medical Institute, 401 North Broadway, Weinberg, 2242, Baltimore, MD. 21231-2410.
