CARRSVILLE—Richard Henry Brock, 74, died April 26, 2010, at Sentara Obici Hospital with his wife by his side. He was born in Isle of Wight County, a son of the late Annie Mae Darden Brock and Rossie W. Brock, and was predeceased by a sister, Patricia Stultz. Richard was retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation as a foreman with 40 years service. He was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 25 years, Grace Caroline Brock; six stepchildren, Veronica Ferguson, Woody Ferguson (Jean), Jo Elizabeth Jarratt, Janet Bulls (Ronnie), Wayne Ferguson (Davon), and Kevin Ferguson (Karen); ten grandchildren, Jason, Laurie Ann, Nichole, Christopher, Sarah, Matthew, Katie, Kellie, Heather, and Michael; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Louise B. Lee of Boykins, Julia Mae Newsome of Colonial Heights, Nannie B. Engstrom of Hopewell Junction, NY, and Virginia B. Outland of Newsoms; and one brother, Rossie E. Brock of Carrsville.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 am Friday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Roger Crump officiating. Interment will follow in Southampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the residence, 30095 Hunt Club Road, Carrsville, and suggests that memorials may be made to the Sycamore Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 31120 Sycamore Church Road, Franklin, Va. 23851. www.wrightfuneralhome.org.
