Betty C. Appleby

Franklin- Betty Condrey Appleby, 79, died peacefully January 14, 2010 surrounded by family and friends. Born in North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Hazel Caddell Condrey and was retired from Union Camp Corporation. Betty was a member of High Street United Methodist Church where she taught children’s Sunday school for several years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Jerusalem Chapter, UDC. Betty will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her daughter, Amy Hayner (Fred) of Milwaukee, NC; two granddaughters, Jessica Taylor (Robert) of Capron and Emma Hayner; two sisters, Abie Condrey and Polly Condrey Cook of Franklin; several devoted nieces and nephews; special friend, Reece Alsbrook; step-daughter, Linda Appleby Jorgensen (Jon) and step-son, Andrew S. Appleby. Besides her parents, Betty was predeceased by a special aunt, Jeanne Gooden and special nephew, John Paul Cook.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at High Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Susan Reaves officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to High Street UMC, P.O. Box 218, Franklin, VA 23851 or to the American Heart Association, 500 Plume St. East, Suite 110 , Norfolk, VA 23510.
