John E. Johnson
GASTON, N.C.—John Edward Johnson, age 73, of 106 Baird Street, Gaston, N.C., died Monday, December 28, 2009, at Halifax Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Johnson was born in Southampton County, the son of the late William Johnson and Sallie Baughan Johnson.
He was a farmer and was preceded in death by a son J.J. Johnson.
Surviving are wife Lula Mac Johnson; 3 daughters, Darlene Scott of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., Lynn. Bradley of Gaston and Mary Johnson of Roanoke Rapids; 4 sons, Melvin Vick and his wife Karen of Roanoke Rapids, Calvin Johnson and his wife Trish of Gaston, Mark Johnson and his wife Amber of Littleton, N.C. and Edward Johnson and his wife Debra of Gaston; 6 sisters, Clara Bell Turner of Jackson, N.C., Nellie Mae Faison of Gaston, Gladys Marie Casper of Boykins, Barbara Turner of Skippers, Shirley Johnson of Pendleton, N.C. and Betty Hoyell of Bear Grass; a brother, William “Buddy” Johnson of Gaston; 13 grandchildren, Jonathan Bradley and his wife Crystal, Matthew Bradley, Brett Johnson, Nicholas Johnson, Joshua Vick, James Johnson Jr., Kaitlin Vick, Haley Johnson, Austin Johnson, Andrew Johnson, Cameron Johnson, Anthony Johnson and Landon Johnson.
Funeral service was held in the Chapel of Wrenn, Clarke & Hagan Funeral and Cremation Service, Roanoke Rapids, N.C., Thursday, December 31, 2009, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Marvin Wiggins officiating.
Graveside services followed in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins, at 2 p.m
