Frederick N. Barker Jr.
COURTLAND—Frederick Nichlson “Ticky” Barker, 78, died Nov. 21, 2009, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
A native of Franklin, he was the son of the late Frederick Nichlson and Susie Parker Barker and was predeceased by his sister, Betty Anne Fraser.
Mr. Barker was a retired weight enforcement officer for the Virginia State Police and a member of the Virginia Fraternal Order of Police Robert A. Hill Lodge 56.
He was also a member of the Founders and Patriots of America, a member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans, a member of the Southampton County Historical Society, a 50-year Mason with the Courtland Masonic Lodge #85, and a member of the Manry Hunt Club.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Jean Allen Barker; his daughter, Holly Barker Dawson (Joseph): his son, Frederick Nichlson “Nicky” Barker III; and two grandchildren, Thomas and Jade Dawson.
The funeral was conducted Tuesday at Courtland United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Gordon officiating.
Interment followed in Riverside Cemetery.
The Virginia State Police served as pallbearers and Honor Guard.
