SUFFOLK—Mary Edith Mason Lawrence, 73, died Nov. 15, 2009, at Sentara Obici Hospital.
She was a native of Isle of Wight County, VA and the daughter of the late Arthur L. Mason Sr. and Ella Joe Perkerson Turner.
She was also predeceased by her husband, Claude L. Lawrence Jr.
Mrs. Lawrence attended Isle of Wight Training School and retired as a domestic worker.
She was a member of Greater Sweet Beulah Apostolic Church (P.A. of W. Inc.) where she was a member of the Lottie Jordan Missionary Circle, Mothers Board, past President of the Missionary Choir, Pastor’s Aid, and the Virginia State Council Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. and Deaconess Board.
Survivors include three daughters, Wanda Stallings, Claudette Mason (William) both of Suffolk, Linda Holland (the Rev. Alexander) of Portsmouth; a foster daughter, Annie Stallings (Melvin) of Suffolk; three sons, Reginald (Donnie) Lawrence, Gregory A. Lawrence both of Suffolk and Ronald V. Lawrence (Peggie) of Stockbridge, Ga.; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; stepmother, Ella Mae Johnson Mason of Smithfield; one brother, Arthur L. Mason Jr. (Mary) of Suffolk, two step brothers, Curtis Johnson of Newport News and Micky Earl Johnson of Smithfield; two sisters-in-law, Cora Rious of Washington, D.C. and Margaret Price of Melbourne, Fla.; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held noon Saturday at Metropolitan Baptist Church officiated by Bishop Madison G. Copeland.
The body will be in church at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery.
The family will assemble at the residence for procession to the church at 11 a.m.
Visitation with the family will be today from 4 to 7 p.m. at Greater Sweet Beulah Apostolic Church.
