Orice M. Saunders
SUFFOLK—Orice Mae Bowers Saunders died Oct. 19, 2009, while a patient in Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin.
The Boykins native was born June 18, 1938 to Fletty M. and Catherine West Bowers.
Mrs. Saunders was preceded in death by her parents and one son, James William Flood.
Survivors include her husband, Alphonsa Saunders; four daughters, Delara Boyd, Jean Foreman, Brenda Porter and Vekesha Bazemore; three sons, Spangerlen E. Flood, Rodney F. Flood and Alvento Saunders; one stepdaughter, Laverne Langston; three step-sons, Alan R. Saunders, Reginald Saunders and William S. Flood; two sisters, Jean M. Carter and Edith Mountcastle; one brother, Willis J. Bowers; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many cousins.
A homegoing celebration will be held at noon Saturday at New Hope Baptist Church, Franklin, with the pastor, the Rev. Anthony Goodwyn delivering the eulogy.
The interment will be in Southview Cemetery.
A traditional service with dignity will be conducted by Wm. M. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, Inc., 224 South Main Street, Franklin.
