IVOR—Carolyn Wilson Pollard died Oct. 19, 2009.
She was born July, 11, 1949, to Gracie B. Wilson and the late Lionel A. Wilson.
Mrs. Pollard was educated in the Isle of Wight County public schools and received a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Arts degree from Hampton Institute, Hampton, Va.
Carolyn was employed by the Newport News Public Schools (as a high school Guidance Counselor) from which she retired in 2007, after 35 years of service.
Survivors include her loving husband of 27 years, Moses (Honey); one son, Michael Alexander (Nashville, Tenn.); her mother, Gracie B. Wilson (Smithfield); three sisters, Lois W. Lantz (Larry, Atlantic City, N.J.), Bruce Belinda Williams (Joe, Egg Harbor Township, N.J.), Jamie W. Grant (Joseph – Smithfield); two aunts, Elsie B. Hall and Josephine W. Lane; one uncle, Russell Bailey (Peggy); a mother-in-law, Elenora E. Pollard; three sisters-in-law, Lena G. Redmon, Thelma E. Pollard (Dwight) and Nancy Burrell (Eric); three brothers-in-law, Dorsey P. Robinson, Harold T. Burrell and Timothy Burrell; several nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Smithfield.
A viewing will be held today at Shivers Funeral Chapel from 5 to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations are made to Ambassadors for Christ, Inc or (AFC, Inc.) P. O. Box 333, Smithfield, VA 23431.
