Phyliss C. Flythe
PORTSMOUTH—Phyliss C. Flythe, 72, died Aug. 7, 2009, in Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center.
Born in Portsmouth, she was a homemaker for 52 years and a member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church where she was involved with the United Voices Choir.
A 1954 graduate of Hayden High School, Franklin, she attended Virginia Union University and Norfolk State College.
Survivors include her husband, McKinley Flythe; daughter, Sherri F. Hunter (David), both of Portsmouth; son, Kenneth Flythe Sr. (Gina) of Evans, Ga.; one brother, Reginald L. Connor Jr. of Portsmouth; five grandchildren, JaRon D. Flythe of Greensboro, N.C., Kenneth Flythe Jr., Kendall Flythe, and Kameryn Flythe, all of Evans, Ga., and Davida R. Hunter; one great-grandchild, Jordan J. Hunter, both of Portsmouth.
She was predeceased by her mother, Annie W. Connor and father, Reginald Connor Sr., both of Portsmouth.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. today in St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, Portsmouth, with Bishop Curtis E. Edmonds Sr. presiding.
Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake.
The family will receive visitors at the home of Sherri (Flythe) Hunter, Portsmouth.
