Anne B. Delk
IVOR—Anne Brown Delk, 79, died Aug. 3, 2009, at Sentara Obici Hospital.
She was a native of Isle of Wight County and class president of the 1947-48 graduating class of Smithfield High School.
Mrs. Delk graduated from Norfolk General School of Nursing and worked in the ER at Obici Hospital for 11 years.
For seven years, she was head of the clinic at Smithfield Packing.
She was a member of Smithfield Baptist Church and the Paulette Savage Sunday School Class. Anne loved being a farmer’s wife, taking care of her family and being nurse for the Pon’s Store community.
Preceded in death by her loving husband, Louis P. Delk, she is survived by her loving sons, Mike Delk of Smithfield, Jerry Delk of Ivor and Marty Delk and wife Nancy Lynn of Smithfield; five granddaughters, Abbey Delk, Kayla Williams and husband Griffin, Caitlin Delk, Megan Delk and Maria Delk; two great-grandsons, Phillip and Drake; and extended family Carolyn Gale and son Brian.
A life celebration service will be held today at 11 a.m. in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Donald Rhoton officiating.
Burial will follow in Mill Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Isle of Wight Academy or Smithfield Baptist Church.
