Eunice M. Harris
NEWPORT NEWS—Eunice Marie Harris died July 20, 2009.
She was born on Oct. 10, 1933, to the late Author Hill and Romine Long in Southampton County, where she was also raised.
She worked at various places including a grain mill, a sewing factory and eventually retail sales.
She married Junius L. Harris Sr. in 1954, and so her death comes in their 55th year of marriage.
She dedicated her life to serving the Lord, starting at Ivy Baptist Church and continued through to New Mt. Olive Baptist Church until her earthly ministry ended on Monday morning.
Survivors include her husband, Junius L. Harris Sr.; her sons, Junius L. Harris Jr. (Jeanette E. Harris) and Jerome L. Harris; two stepsons, two stepdaughters, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, 13 stepgrandchildren, nine stepgreat-grandchildren, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and very special friends.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens.
