Charles G. Futrell
CARRSVILLE—Charles Geobelle Futrell, 79, died July 18, 2009, at Consulate Healthcare Center in Windsor.
He was born in Northampton County, N.C., the son of the late Junius Godwin and Ruth Brown Futrell. and was predeceased by his sister, Iola Morris.
A Navy veteran of the Korean War, he was retired from the power plant at Union Camp Corp. after 41 years.
He was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, June Davidson Futrell; one daughter, Cynthia F. Joy of Franklin; two sons, Gary Charles Futrell and wife Lona, and Timothy Mark Futrell and wife Mary, all of Courtland; and five grandchildren, Emily F. Bein and husband Stephen, Joel Futrell and wife Brandy, April Joy, Hannah Futrell and Conner Futrell.
A graveside service was conducted Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Beaver Dam Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Richard Peerey officiating.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 6350 Center Drive Suite 102, Norfolk, VA 23502.
