FRANKLIN—Michael Brandon Pittman, 34, died peacefully in his sleep on July 7, 2009, after a two-year battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
He was born in Franklin and was a graduate of Southampton High School class of 1992. He also attended college at Paul D. Camp Community. He was a real estate agent with William E. Wood and Associates Realtors. He was also a big Chicago Bears fan.
Survivors include his wife, Krystal Joelle Pittman; his daughter, Kailee Grace Pittman, a stepson, Matthew Kyle Britton; his mother, Gloria Mulder Pittman Edwards of Franklin; his father and stepmother, Thomas and Kay Pittman of Ivor; two brothers, Kevin Pittman and wife Cathy of Franklin and Stephen Pittman of Ivor; stepbrother, Edwin Murphy; stepsister, Emily Edwards; two nieces, Charlee Paige Pittman and Cheyenne Murphy; three nephews, Zack Murphy, Dennis Maddrey and Brandon Edwards; grandparents, Hinson and Louise Pittman of Ivor and Elsie Overby of Courtland. Michael was predeceased by a brother, Shaun M. Edwards.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Cribb officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National ALS Association, 27001 Agoura Road, Suite 150, Calabasas Hills, CA 91301-5104.
