Otho Lee Gladding III
FRANKLIN—Otho Lee “Tobe” Gladding III, 74, died June 15, 2009, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Mr. Gladding was born in Baltimore, Md., a son of the late Agnes Geisen and Otho Lee Gladding Jr., and was reared in Tappanhannock.
He was predeceased by a brother, Irvin Lee Gladding.
He was a graduate of Christchurch School, Hampden-Sydney College, and received his Masters Degree in Education from The College of William and Mary.
He was a longtime educator and retired from the Southampton Public School system. He was an Army veteran and was a member of Chi Phi Fraternity.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Frances Grove Gladding; three daughters, Laura Gladding of Charlottesville, Sarah G. Moskalski and husband Donnie of Richmond and Margaret Lee Gladding of Franklin; one granddaughter, Ava Frances Moskalski; one sister, Ann G. Carreras of Richmond; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Emmanuel Episcopal Church with the Rev. Edmund Pickup officiating.
Because of his love of golf, a celebration of his life will be held on the 18th hole at Hobbs Hole Golf Course in Tappahannock at a later date.
