Ella N. Lewis
GATESVILLE, N.C.—Ella Mae Nichols Lewis died May 29, 2009.
She was born May 27, 1917, in Sedley to the late William Nichols and Annie Whitehead Nichols.
Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her spouse, John H. Lewis Sr., five brothers, James, Edward, Charles, John and Emmit Nichols; stepbrother, Lawrence Eaton; two sisters Sue Nichols-Brown and Ruth Nichols-Mason; and stepsister, Annie Bell Riddick.
She was employed at St. Regis Paper Co. for many years. She was a member of East End Church of God for many years and was a member of the Unity Band and Missionary Circle.
She was also a member of Lifeline United Holy Church where she was the mother of the church.
Survivors include four daughters, Delores Wiggins (William) of Wake Forest, N.C., Jacqueline Sessoms (Booker T) of Newport News, Sue Lowe (Carlton) of Franklin and Sylvia Thourogood (Olanda) of Virginia Beach; three sons, John H. Lewis Jr. (Dyanne) of Franklin, Arthur Lewis (Gracie) of Gatesville and Anthony Lewis (Alyson) of Middletown, Conn.; one brother, George Nichols (Ann) of Newport News; one stepbrother, Arsie Eaton (Donna) of Raleigh, N.C.; one stepsister, Lilllian Little of Chesapeake; three sisters-in-law, Dolly Nichols, Jessie Nichols and Virginia Lawrence, all of Franklin; one brother-in-law, Mario Lewis of Chesapeake; 22 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A funeral service was held June 3 at East End Church, Franklin.
