Dale R. Cooke
WILLIAMSBURG—Dale Renee Cooke, 59, died May 16, 2009, at Hospice House.
She was born in Newport News to the late Frederick and Dorethia Cooke.
Ms. Cooke held many positions during her life. As a professional, she was formerly employed as a high school teacher with the public schools system in Richmond.
She later moved to California, where she worked for Los Angeles County.
Eventually returning to Virginia, she worked as a management analyst for James City County, and was the former Assistant City Manager for the City of Franklin.
She then went on to work as a budget analyst with Fairfax County, and then most recently as a budget analyst with Prince William County.
Survivors include her daughter, Renee Cooke of Williamsburg; her sisters, Beverly Anderson and husband Henry of Williamsburg and Carol Cooke of North Carolina; her brothers, Melvin Cooke of Newport News and Marvin and Larry Cooke, both of Hampton; her special friends, Rose King and Kathy Dorsey; several nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Sarah and all the staff at Hospice House.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. today at Weymouth Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Furman Kenney.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
