Edna Barnes
BRANFORD, Fla.—Edna Barnes, 86, died April 28, 2009, after a long illness.
The Halifax County, N.C. native moved to Branford, in 1968 from Capron.
Mrs. Barnes retired 20 years with G.E. Battery Manufacturer, Gainesville, Fla. and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Branford.
Survivors include one daughter, Darlene Alcorn (Rick) of St. Augustine,Fla.; six sons, Larry Barnes of Branford, Wayne Barnes (Brenda) of Franklin, Jerry Barnes (Janet), David Barnes, Tommy Barnes, Wesley Barnes (Jackie), all of Branford; one sister, Hazel Drummond of Des Moines, Iowa; 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd Barnes and granddaughter Amanda Barnes.
Funeral services were held Friday at First Baptist Church Christian Life Center, Branford, with the Revs. Eddie Blalock, Gordon Keller and Charles Istre officiating.
Interment followed in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Daniels Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. Live Oak and Branford was in charge of all arrangements.
