WINDSOR—Robert McEwen Harrup, 66, died April 28, 2009, at the Waverly Healthcare Center exactly 11 years after suffering a debilitating stroke and accident.
He was born in Sussex Co., the son of the late Burnice Lee and Agnes Fowler Harrup.
Mr. Harrup was a graduate of Waverly High School and took classes from the University of Texas at Arlington, University of Maryland, Dallas County Community College, and Paul D. Camp Community College. He retired from selling real estate and insurance.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a member of Antioch Church in Windsor and a former member of Windsor Ruritan Club and American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Wilkins Harrup of Windsor; son, Michael T. Harrup and wife Melinda, and grandchildren, Adam and Hannah of Demorest, Ga.; son, Steven B. Harrup and wife Julie and grandchildren, Cassie, Jeremi, Joshua, and Jessica of Tiger, Ga.; daughter, Karen C. Broadwater and husband Brian, and grandchildren, Madison, Matthew, and Meagan of Temperanceville; special sisters, Linda H. Chambers and Judy H. Peffer of Waverly; special brother, Dennis F. Harrup Jr. and wife Brenda of Chesterfield; brother-in-law, William E. Wilkins of Windsor; aunt, Ruth Harrup Cooke of Dendron; uncle, Dennis F. Harrup Sr. and wife Lorene of Chesterfield County; special caregiver, Debbie C. Warren of Wakefield; many special loving cousins and extended family, including childhood friend, Wayne Francis.
A funeral service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Antioch Church with the Rev. Mark T. Habecker officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.
Friends may join the family Saturday evening from 6:30-8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, VA and other times at the residence.
