Mary J. Garrison
WINDSOR—Mary Jones Garrison, 80, formerly of Windsor, died April 27, 2009.
She was born and reared in Cumberland County, the daughter of Ellis Putney Jones and Mary Carter Jones.
She was the widow of William E. Garrison Jr. to whom she was married for 54 years.
Mrs. Garrison was a member of Windsor Christian Church and its women’s fellowship group.
She was also a member of the Windsor Women’s Club, the Society of the Lees of Virginia, the William Allan chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Gray Stanley and husband James E. Stanley Jr.; her son, William E. Garrison III and wife Mary C. Garrison; her grandchildren, Susan Mauro and husband Jay, Carter Garrison and Meredith Garrison; and her great-grandson, Seth Mauro.
A funeral was held at Windsor Christian Church Thursday by the Revs. Steve Broache and Basil L. Ballard.
R.W. Baker Funeral Home, Suffolk, was in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Windsor Christian Church, P.O. Box 407, Windsor, VA 23487 or to the Masonic Home of Virginia, 4101 Nine Mile Road, Richmond, VA 23223.
