VIRGINIA BEACH-Sarah H. Dillon, 86, skipped away from this world having heard the words, “Rise up my love, my fair one and come away,” from her beloved Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 12th, 2011.
Sarah, affectionately known as “Granny Sal” was devoted to her family, her profession as a school teacher, her passion for the kingdom of God and her forty-one year commitment to the Lord’s work at Rock Church in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Sarah was born on February 15, 1925 in Pearisburg, Virginia. She is predeceased by her parents, William A. and Grace T. Hardiman. She attended Virginia Tech where she met her future husband, the late Richard M. Dillon. She graduated from Old Dominion University where she majored in education.
Sarah (Sally) Dillon is survived by one daughter, Loree D. Dobbs and her husband, Cush, of Virginia Beach, Virginia; two sons, Richard (Sandy) Dillon and his wife, Jenny, of Valencia, California; David S. Dillon and his wife, Patty, of Franklin, Virginia; thirteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren (with two more on their way) and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15th 2011 in the sanctuary of Rock Church of Franklin, 130 Lakeview Road, Franklin, Virginia. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. Earlier in the day at 3:00 p.m., the family will conduct a private graveside service at Poplar Spring Cemetery in Franklin.
