Clinton L. Scott
FRANKLIN—Bishop Clinton L. Scott died, March 31, 2009, at his home.
He was born Feb. 23, 1921, in Boykins to the late Isaiah and Izzie Scott.
He was educated in the Southampton County Public Schools and furthered his study at Christ for the Nations Dallas, Texas.
Bishop Scott retired from St. Regis in 1987 after almost 40 years of service.
He was the youngest of seven children and is survived by one brother, Edward Lee Scott of Winston Salem, N.C. He was a faithful member of Mt. Olive Holiness Church, Riverdale, where he served as the assistant pastor to the late Rev. A.A. Hall for 20 years.
While serving at Mt. Olive, Bishop Scott also pastored Living Waters in Winton, N.C. for seven years.
In 1966, he founded Scott’s Revival Center on the corner of South and Hogart streets in Franklin, where he served as pastor for 38 years.
Under his leadership, countless souls have come to know the Lord Jesus Christ. He served as Bishop of Christ the Only Hope Ministries for almost 10 years before retiring in 2007.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Bernice G. Scott; 11 children Joyce Beamer, Mazina Porter (Roger), Clinton B. Scott (Linda), Jeannie Foreman (Robert), Timothy Scott (Stella), Randolph Scott, Herbert Scott (Tine), Evelyn Square (Ernest), Ginger Scott-Spratley, Jerry Scott (Schulyer), and Terry Scott (Terry); 40 plus grandchildren, 30 plus great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held today from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Scott’s Revival Center, 1816 South St., Franklin.
Homegoing service will be on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Apostolic Faith Church of God General Headquarters on Oak Street,
Interment will follow at Southampton Memorial Park.
