Ruth S. Hyre
WAKEFIELD—Ruth Summers Hyre, 85, died March 29, 2009, at Waverly Health Care Center.
She was the widow of Randall Lee Hyre.
Born Nov. 5, 1923, in Ragland Ala., she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Lindy Mae Higgenbothem Summers.
In 1944, Mrs, Hyre joined the U.S. Navy. Serving her country proudly, she was awarded the World War II Victory Ribbon and American Campaign Ribbon before her honorable discharge in July 1946.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. today in Wakefield Cemetery, with the Rev. Jim Kerr officiating.
Purviance Chapel, J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Wakefield, is handling arrangements.
