MURFREESBORO, N.C.—Irene R. Barnes, died Jan. 24, 2009, at Southampton Memorial Hospital.
A native of Northampton County, she was a member of Revelle Hill Baptist Church.
She was retired from Hardee’s as a cook.
Survivors include three sons, Melvin Vinson of Charleston, S.C., Donald Vinson of Murfreesboro and Jackson Barnes Jr. of Baltimore; three daughters, Mary Ruffin and Darlene Everette, both of Murfreesboro and Lois Barnes-Smith of Baltimore; one brother, Albert Ridley of Woodland, N.C.; and two sisters, Claudia Gatling of Philadelphia and Geneva Britt of Murfreesboro.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Revelle Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. Elijah Barnes. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Hunters Funeral Home, Ahoskie, is handling arrangements.
