WINDSOR—Janie Marie Hardison Wood, 59, died Jan. 25, 2009, at her home after a brief illness.
Born in Bakersville, N.C., and a former resident of Virginia Beach, she had resided in Isle of Wight County since 1996.
For a number of years, she was a real estate paralegal/closer for the law firm of Mark Stallings, Portsmouth.
She had a passion for country living and loved the outdoors.
She even loved to bass fish alongside her husband.
She enjoyed travel, and especially road trips, which took her all the way to Montana.
Mrs. Wood had a strong attachment and love for her children and grandchildren. She easily made friends with and loved all children.
She was a member of Woodland United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 14 years, James “Jay” W. Wood Jr.; her son, Paul D. Christdon and his wife Casandra of Norfolk; stepdaughters, Laura Wood Habr and husband Kal and Leigh Wood, all of Virginia Beach, and Ashley Wood of Richmond; stepson, James W. Wood III and wife Christy of Davidson, N.C.; grandchildren, Madison Christdon, Callie and Noor Habr, Caroline and Jill Wood; three sisters, Carolyn H. Perkins (George F.) of Charles City, Peggy L. Tipton and Shirley Gasque (Douglas) of Tampa, Fla.; and a host of extended family and neighbors who will sorely miss her.
A service celebrating her life will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Woodland UMC with the Rev. Michael Harrington officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested by the family to Woodland United Methodist Church, 20051 Orbit Road, Windsor, VA 23487.
