Robert J. Hill
HAMPTON—Robert Jackson “Bob” Hill of Shell Road, died Jan. 3, 2009, in the Veteran’s Medical Center, Hampton.
Mr. Hill was born in Sebrell, Feb. 10, 1920 to Thomas H. and Clara Goodwyn Hill.
In 1942, he enlisted in the United States Army and dutifully served his country until he was honorably discharged in June 1945.
He was a member of St. Mary AME Zion Church where he faithfully served as a Trustee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Elizabeth, Oneida, Willie Mae; two brothers, Vance and George.
Survivors include two sisters, Leah Pierson of Bronx, N.Y., Christene Deloatch of Virginia Beach; one adopted sister, Nell Poston of Bennettsville, S.C.; one brother, Wilroy Hill of Portsmouth; nieces, nephews and cousins.
A life’s celebration will be held today at noon at St. Mary AME Zion Church, Sebrell, with the pastor, the Rev. Charles Conley delivering the eulogy.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
