MURFREEBSORO, N.C.—Minister Edith Brooks, 66, died Dec. 2, 2008.
A native of Hertford County, she was the daughter of the late Jesse M. Sneed and James Holley Brooks.
Mr. Brooks was a member of Mt. Sinai Church of God where she served faithfully until her health failed her.
She was married to the late John Brooks and from this union five children were born.
Survivors include a son, William Brooks (Cynthia); four daughters, Linda Brooks, Julia Brooks, Katy Brooks Moore (Henry) and Mary Brooks Barnes (Steve), all of Murfreesboro; a brother, Samuel Sneed (Lena) of Newport News; three sisters, Carol Newsome of Boston, Mass., Peggy Bishop (Wallace) and Denise Williams (Alonzo), both of Newport News; one sister-in-law, Lottie Ruby-T Brooks of Rich Square, N.C.; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held Dec. 7 at Mt. Sinai Church of God, Murfreesboro, with Pastor Arthur Clark officiating.
Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Margaretsville, N.C.
