George C. Murphy Jr.
SMITHFIELD—George Cleveland Murphy Jr., 74, died at Consulate Health Care, Windsor, after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Murphy was a native and lifelong resident of Isle of Wight.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Edwards Murphy.
Survivors include his daughter, Brenda Blankenship and husband, Leonard of Bland; his son, George D. Murphy of Smithfield; his sister, Catherine Marie Murphy Lentz and husband Robert of Raeford, N.C.; two grandsons, Lionel Blankenship and Kris Blankenship; grandchildren, Kimberly Grace Blankenship, Karrie Faith Blankenship and Nate Houseman.
A graveside funeral service was conducted Thursday in St. Luke’s Memorial Park, with Pastor Donald K. Watkins officiating.
Arrangements are in the care of Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield.
