FRANKLIN—Frances Smith Ragland, 89, a longtime resident of Plymouth, N.C. and widow of Roy Milton Ragland, died Dec. 11, 2008.
Born in Richwood, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Orville Ray and Myrtle Mae Greene Smith.
Mrs. Ragland was retired from Weyerhauser Pulp and Paper Company of Plymouth and was a member of Plymouth Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include her daughter, Marion R. Goodman and husband, Dr. Benjamin M. Goodman Jr.; three grandchildren, Rebecca Goodman McCauley and husband Mark of Greensboro, N.C., Suzanne Goodman Blythe and husband Charles of Gates, N.C. and Dr. Benjamin Mitchell Goodman III of Norfolk; three great-grandchildren, Joshua McCauley, Benjamin Goodman IV and Abigail Goodman; two sisters, Patricia Austin of Summerfield, Fla. and Phyllis Goddard of Wadsworth, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Marilyn Ragland, a sister, and three brothers.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Steve Creech and Rev. Dr. Richard Childress officiating.
Interment will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens, Plymouth.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
