COMO, N.C.—Larry Wayne Parker, 54, died Nov. 23, 2008.
Mr. Parker was a native of Hertford County and the son of Gladys B. Conner of Aulander and Franklin D. Parker of El Paso, Texas.
He was married to Judy Outland in 2002.
He served the Woodland Fire Department and Rescue for many years.
He loved sports and coached softball for the Woodland Baptist Church Youth League.
He owned and operated Lee Motor Company in Woodland, N.C. for a number of years, following that he went to work with Blake Ford in Franklin, as well as Riddick International and more recently was working as a mechanic at United Turf Inc. of Murfreesboro, N.C.
He was a devoted husband, father, step-father and grandfather.
He gave of himself for anyone who needed help. He was a friend to all that knew him.
Survivors also include his wife, Judy O. Parker of the home; one daughter, Ashley Parker of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; one son, Jarrett Parker and wife Amy of Weldon, N.C.; two step daughters; Sarah Joyner of Roanoke Rapids and Allison Joyner of Como; one sister, Kim Conner of Roanoke Rapids; six brothers, Glenn Parker and wife Alice of Ahoskie, N.C., Frankie Parker and wife Shelia of Aulander, N.C., Vernon Conner and wife Trena of Ahoskie, Joey Parker and wife Lori of Aulander and Jimmy Conner and Bobby Conner, both of Ahoskie; two grandchildren, Aliah Parker and Destiny Woodley; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday at Woodland Baptist Church in Woodland with the Revs. Heath Lloyd and Sandy Outlaw officiating.
Interment followed at the Cedar Wood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.
Memorial contributions may be made at your local RBC Bank to the Larry Wayne Parker Memorial Fund.
