Leighton V. Carter
COMO, N.C.—Leighton V. Carter, 86, died Nov. 20, 2008, at Roanoke Chowan Hospital.
He was born April 11, 1922 in Edgecombe County to the late William T. Carter and Eula Blount Carter.
He was the husband of the late Retha Flanagan Carter.
Mr. Carter was a retired electrician.
Burial followed in Sunnyside Cemetery. The Rev. John Hackney officiated.
Survivors include a son, Don Carter and wife Patricia of Greenville; grandchildren, Shelley Burton and her husband John and Denise Martin and husband Joe, both of Maryland, Donald Dustin Carter and wife Elizabeth and Christopher Mark Carter and wife Amy, both of Greenville and four great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two sons, Dennis Carter and Samuel Carter.
A Celebration of Life service was held Sunday in the Ashley Chapel of Garrett Funeral Home.
