Lunsford P. Hughes
VIRGINIA BEACH—Lunsford P. Hughes of the 200 block of Grayson Road died Nov. 18, 2008, in Sentara Nursing Center, Newtown Road.
Born in Camden, N.C., he was employed with Norfolk Naval Air Station as an aircraft mechanic and retired from the International Longshoremen’s Association.
Mr. Hughes was a member of Union Baptist Church, Virginia Beach.
He was also a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his spouse, Mary E. Hughes; daughter, Malvene Hughes Calloway, both of Virginia Beach; sister, Beatrice Croom of Portsmouth; two grandchildren, April Cooper (Ulysses) of Como, N.C., and Teresa Carolina of Virginia Beach; one great-grandchild, Ondreea Foster; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his great-grandson, Jason Loyuk.
A funeral will be held today at 11 a.m. in Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Samuel Walton presiding.
Burial will be in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk.
Community Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements.
