SA comes from behind for 42-34 win

CHESTERFIELD—The Southampton Academy girls’ basketball team came from behind in the fourth quarter to beat Richmond Christian 42-34 on Friday.

The Lady Raiders were down five after the first three quarters, but strengthened their defense and outscored Richmond Christian 19-7 in the fourth quarter.

“I thought we played pretty good defense,” Coach Chris Pope said. “We rattled them and got some turnovers in the fourth quarter.”

Beth Waller led the Lady Raiders with 16 points and Rachel Holland added 14.

Southampton Academy moves to 2-0. The Lady Raiders take on Tidewater Academy at 7:30 tonight, Dec. 5, in Wakefield.
