SUFFOLK—Vivian Copeland Winborne, 80, of the 6000 block of Indian Trail died Aug. 31, 2008, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her children and her sister.
She was born Oct. 14, 1927 in Nansemond County. She was the daughter of the late John James and Isabelle Lowe Copeland.
She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Harry M. Winborne; a son John Edward Winborne; and nine brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Winborne was a homemaker, Co-Owner of Winborne’s Grocery and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son Harry Stewart Winborne of Norfolk; two daughters, Judith W. Horton of Suffolk and Vivian Lee Gurganus and husband Ronald of Carrsville and one sister Evelyn C. Jones of Suffolk; three grandchildren, Ryan Mardre, Travis Horton (Emily) and Denise Sloan (Chris); and two great-grandchildren, Camden and Cayson Sloan.
The funeral service will be held today at 11 a.m. in the Sidney F. Harrell Chapel of Harrell and Hill Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Pearson officiating.
Committal will follow in the Winborne Family Cemetery.
