James Thomas ‘Nanny’ Vick

CAPRON—James Thomas “Nanny” Vick, 79, passed away on December 14, 2011.

He was a son of the late Louis and Mary Elizabeth Vick.

Born and raised in Southampton County, Nanny enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was a retired carpenter and a member of Capron Baptist Church.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of nearly 60 years, Ethel Grizzard Vick; daughters, Elizabeth V. Powell of Carson and Wanda V. Covington and husband, Jim, of Newsoms; sons, Eddie T. Vick and wife, Shelia, of Yale, David L. Vick and wife, Ebbie, of Doodlum, Jerry W. Vick and wife, Laura of Capron and Joseph R. Vick and wife, Beverly, of Capron; grandchildren, Kristopher B. Twisdale, James M. Vick and wife, Amanda, Joshua W. Vick, Wesley T. Vick and wife, Kim, Jacob O. Vick, Samuel T. Vick and Tristan T. Vick; great-grandchildren, Lathan P. Vick and Trent T. Vick; and sisters, Mary Brown of Gresham, Wisc., and Lucille Vick of Jacksonville, Fla.

The family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home, Friday, December 16, 2011, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 17, 2011, at Capron Baptist Church with Dr. Wayne Cook officiating.

Burial will follow in Capron Cemetery.
