JACKSON, N.C. — Four Western Tidewater men were arrested Monday in connection with an armed robbery at a home in Northampton County, N.C.

Arrested were Sharod Perry, 29, and Eugene Monta Newsome, 22, both of Franklin, and Rondever Williams, 32, and Lavonda Jordan, 25, both of Courtland.

Rich Square Police Lt. Kevin Byrd said a female approached a Pine Street resident on Monday morning at his home. The female introduced the victim to a man.

As the two went inside the victim’s home, two other males approached. A weapon was brandished and money was demanded.

“When the victim refused, he was struck in the head and received a 2-inch gash,” said Byrd.

The victim was ordered to the ground and suspects stomped him, Byrd said. The foursome then searched the victim’s home, taking a shoebox containing cash, a document safe and jewelry.

The suspects fled in a car with Virginia license plates.

Byrd said Northampton County Sheriff’s deputies spotted the car on N.C. 305 near U.S. 158 and N.C. 305.

Byrd said the driver slowed down, and two suspects exited the car. The driver then sped off.

Deputies arrested the two, later identified as Perry and Williams.

Byrd said officers continued to pursue the vehicle east on U.S. 158. The driver stopped near Ray’s Place, where another suspect fled the vehicle while the driver, later identified as Jordan, stayed behind.

Officers took the driver into custody. Byrd said a sawed-off shotgun was discovered in the vehicle.

Perry, Williams and Jordan were charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, first-degree kidnapping, assault inflicting serious injury and possession of a weapon of mass destruction.

Newsome, who was not apprehended until Monday evening, reportedly also broke into a church. He was charged with the burglary at the home and the church.

Northampton County Sheriff’s Office, North Carolina Highway Patrol, and Woodland, Jackson, Conway, Gaston, Seaboard and Weldon police departments assisted.
