CHESAPEAKE—Southampton Academy’s Tonee Hill scored 21 points and grabbed 17 rebounds in a 70-51 loss Tuesday to Greenbrier Christian.
The Raiders overcame injuries to starters Zach Best and Thomas Taylor to take a 30-28 lead at the half.
“I thought the entire team played extremely well in the first half,” Coach David Gibbs said. “We played very well defensively in a hostile environment.”
The Raiders got worn down in the second half and shots weren’t falling, Gibbs said.
Carson Camp added 10 points and three assists in the loss, while Matt Nixon added six points, three assists and three steals. Matt Rose had nine points and pulled down 14 rebounds, while Thomas Fox added five points.
“Overall I was very happy with the way we played,” Gibbs said.
The loss drops the Raiders to 4-4.
Southampton Academy will take on Kenston Forest at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, in Blackstone.
