Reita McDaniel Brown

FRANKLIN—Reita McDaniel Brown, 88, passed away January 16, 2012, at Southampton Memorial Hospital in Franklin, Va., after a series of strokes.
She was born August 23, 1923, in Hood, Va., in Madison County.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Elbert W. Brown; one son, Charles Daniel Brown and his wife, Arena Brown of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; one granddaughter, Julia Brown of Beijing, China; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Reita graduated from Jefferson School of Commerce, Charlottesville, Va., in 1954.
She served as head of the Children’s Department of Leggett’s Department Store in Orange and later worked for several banks destined to become part of Bank of America.
Reita enjoyed playing golf with the women at Cypress Cove Country Club. She liked to visit and play at other clubs and did so at every opportunity.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2012, at Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin, Va.
