SA girls improve to 6-2 in VCC

CHRISTCHURCH—Southampton Academy girls improved to 6-2 in the Virginia Commonwealth Conference with a 33-16 victory over Christchurch School Thursday.
The Lady Raiders improved to 9-2 overall and are tied for second with Tidewater Academy in the conference.
“A good defensive effort,” said Coach Chris Pope. “We struggled shooting the ball.”
Rachel Holland led the team with 14 points while Morgan Pope and Beth Waller added six a piece.
The junior varsity Lady Raiders are 5-0 and on Monday defeated Fuqua 32-16.
The varsity girls travel to Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23.
