HEATHSVILLE—Franklin senior Emmanuel Ricks was named the wrestler Northumberland Tourney’s most valuable player after going 5-0 on Saturday.

Wrestling in the 195-pound class, Ricks had four pins and one decision.

“He’s been working pretty hard this year,” said Franklin Coach Daniel “Bull” Johnson.

“I think now his overall record is 19-3. His losses were to two triple A schools and one to a double A school.”

Franklin is a single A school.

Going 4-1 for Franklin were juniors Nathan Jones in the 160-pound class and Xavier Freeman in the 126-pound class.

The Franklin team will travel to Matthews for a tournament at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28.
