COURTLAND—Barclay Gatten scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds during Southampton Academy’s 69-38 Virginia Commonwealth Conference loss to Amelia Academy on Thursday.

The Lady Patriots’ 69 points were the fewest they scored in their previous six games. Amelia Academy is undefeated in the VCC.

Rachel Holland led the Lady Raiders in scoring with 13 points and Beth Waller added seven.

Southampton Academy fell to 10-3 overall and 7-3 in the VCC.

The junior varsity Lady Raiders lost their first game of the year to an undefeated Amelia by 28-23. The girls fall to 6-1.

The Lady Raiders take on VCC rival Tidewater Academy at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30, in Courtland. Southampton Academy is in third in VCC and Tidewater is in second.
