To the Editor:

Living in poverty are a total of 65 percent when you add them up at 33.2 percent in Franklin, 12.3 percent in Isle of Wight County and 20 percent in Southampton County. (“Living in poverty: thirty-three percent of Franklin’s children getting by on little money,” Jan. 20).

I hope no one is surprised. After all it is the change people voted for in 2008.

I’m only surprised it’s not higher than 65 percent. Isle of Wight County is pushing to put more into the poverty level with the 25 percent tax increase that they do not need now that the mill is putting millions back into the county again.

So let’s ask Isle of Wight County to stop the tax increase and repeal it, or just keep it and blame it on the previous members who got voted out, and reap the benefits.

For the rest of you, look for more of the same as long as Obama keeps killing jobs off and spending. Inflation will continue and gas prices will continue to rise as long as Obama is in Washington, D.C.

I hope all have learned from their voting mistakes and vote to take America back from the great deceiver and decrease the poverty level.
