SA girls pick up conference win

BLACKSTONE—Southampton Academy girls moved to 11-4 overall after a 37-30 win over conference foe Kenston Forest Thursday.
Rachel Holland scored 15 points and Barclay Gatten added seven.
“We played well defensively, but we could’ve shot the ball better,” said SA Coach Chris Pope .
The Lady Raiders sit in third place in the Virginia Commonwealth Conference at 8-4 and are in position to host a first-round game in the conference tournament.
The junior varsity Lady Raiders beat won 22-19 Thursday. Seventh-grader Mason Pope led the squad with nine points and her cousin, Morgan Pope, added seven.
The varsity girls will travel to Fuqua at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6.
