Franklin to hold in-person high school graduation
Franklin High School seniors will get to celebrate the once-in-a-lifetime moment of high school graduation in person this year.
A school division press release noted graduation will be held at Armory Field on Friday, June 4, with a start time of 6 p.m. Seniors must be there at 5 p.m.
As of now, each senior will receive eight tickets, but that could increase or decrease based on guidelines from the governor’s office. The ceremony will also be broadcast on Franklin High School Facebook Live.
Armory Field will allow students to have more family members attend the celebration. This venue will also let everyone practice social distancing according to guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Graduates, teachers and administrators will be seated on the field, adequately distanced. In addition to social distancing, all attendees must wear masks and follow all other guidelines and safety protocols.
Franklin High School has a Plan B: Inclement Weather Plan in place if the weather does not permit Armory Field to be used. The Workforce Development Center at Camp Community College is the first option. The Franklin High School gymnasium is the second option if the Workforce Development Center is not allowed to be used.
With the Inclement Weather Plan, each graduate would receive three tickets. Teachers and staff would not attend this ceremony, but the event would still be broadcast on Franklin High School Facebook Live.
The promotion ceremonies for eighth grade, fifth grade and kindergarten will all be conducted virtually. The Eighth-Grade Promotion Ceremony will air on the Franklin City Public Schools YouTube channel and website June 10 at 6 p.m. The Fifth-Grade Promotion Ceremony will be June 9 from 5-7 p.m. The Kindergarten Ceremony will be June 8 at 7 p.m.
All ceremonies will premiere on the school division’s YouTube channel, named FCPS SocialMedia. There will be no Preschool Ceremony this year.
Students and families are asked to contact their school if they have any questions.
